Industry Insights| 3D Printer Gained an Increase of 271.4% in First Half of 2019 Becoming a Robust Driving Force in China

Data from China National Bureau of Statistics showed that 3D printer gained an increase of 271.4% in the first half of 2019, and an increase of 152.9% in August, becoming an indispensable robust driving force in China.

On the morning of September 16, 2019, the State Council Information Office held a press conference on the operation of the national economy in August 2019, and the spokesperson of the National Bureau of Statistics, Fu Linghui, said that in August, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 4.4% year-on-year, and the growth rate dropped by 0.4 percentage points from the previous month, the chain growth was 0.32%, which was 0.13% higher than that of the previous month. From January to August, the added value of industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 5.6%, the growth rate dropped by 0.2%, and the 3D printing equipment increased by 152.9% in August.

In August this year, the added value of high-tech manufacturing increased by 6.1%, with medical equipment, instrumentation and instrument manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, electronics and communication equipment manufacturing respectively increasing by 11.8%, 8.3%, and 5.4%. 3D printing equipment, smart bracelets, smart watches and solar energy battery output increased by 152.9%, 74.2%, 51.8% and 42.1%.

3D printing, that is, namely additive manufacturing, will be an emerging subversive technology that builds out physical materials on a digital model
basis, and will have a profound impact on the traditional process flow, production line, and industrial chain.

China CREALITY 3D Consumer-Grade 3D Printer

At present, China's 3D printing applications are mainly concentrated in the fields of home appliances and consumer electronics, mold testing, medical and dental orthodontics, automobiles and other vehicles, and aerospace. According to"2019 Printing Industry Market Prospects and Investment Research Report", China's 3D printing market reached 2.36 billion RMB in 2018 with an increase of nearly 42%. With the corresponding maturity of China's 3D printing technology, demand in aerospace, automotive and other industries will continue to increase. It is estimated that China's 3D printing market will reach nearly 3 billion RMB in 2019.

3D printers are mainly divided into consumer and industrial grades. Industrial grade 3D printers are faster and moreaccurate, and are widely used in aerospace, automotive, medical and other fields. At present, industrial-grade 3D printers account for far more than consumer-grade 3D printers in terms of sales revenue in the domestic 3D printing market structure.

Consumer-grade 3D printers account for a significant portion of market shipments, although their share of sales revenue is less than that of industrial-grade 3D printers. With the continuous maturity of artificial intelligence technology, consumer-grade 3D printers are gradually becoming familiar, attracting a lot of attention from enterprises and consumers. According to the data, the market for personal consumer 3D printers has grown rapidly in 2012-2018. It is expected that the market size of personal consumer 3D printers will further increase in 2019, exceeding 200 million RMB.

It is worth noticing that the Chinese economy is shifting from high-speed growth to high-quality development. The trend of new and old kinetic energy transformation is continuously strengthened, and 3D printing is becoming a new driving force for China's industrial economic growth. China has a dynamic micro-foundation, a huge swing space with resilience, sufficient macro-policy tools, and full confidence and ability to ensure a good momentum in the fundamentals of economic development.
